Wayne Smith Rifle Range is Open!

The Wayne Smith Rifle Range is now Open! Currently, this is the only firearm range owned and operated by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. As such, their rules and regulations apply and these can be found in their annual Regulations Digest at http://www.ncwildlife.org.
We have pictures of the range online. The range has a shooting distance of up to 100 yards. It has 5 shooting benches, left or right handed, and are Handicap Accessible. For directions, and a list of the Rules and Regulations for the range, click on "Read More" below.

Shooting Ranges
Shooting ranges on state-owned game lands are
open from sunrise to sunset, Monday through Saturday, for the
purpose of firearm marksmanship and development of shooting
skills. All shooting-range users shall abide by the game lands
restrictions and handle firearms and archery equipment in a safe
manner. They also shall obey all regulations posted at the range.
Additional restrictions:
● No use of glass targets.
● Firearms must be unloaded and cased in transport to and from
the shooting range.
● No intentional shooting into a target holder or other
permanent structure.
● No shooting at targets off the range.

The directions to the range are:
From Canton -- NC 110 to US 276 at the light cross to Lovejoy Lane. Go approximately 8.9 miles and the range will be on the right.
From Waynesville -- US 276 to Bethel Groceries. Go past Bethel Groceries and turn right onto NC 215. Go approximately 8.9 miles and the range will be on the right.
From Brevard -- US 276 to Bethel Groceries, turn left onto Lovejoy Lane, and go approximately 8.9 miles. Range will be on the right. |
